A trendy creative hub in the neighborhood of Alcantara in Lisbon, Lx Factory is located within an old industrial factory complex that has been converted into a cultural space featuring shops, restaurants, art galleries, and studios. Let’s take a look at everything you need to know about LX Factory, including some of the most popular shops and restaurants to visit.
History
In 1846, Alcântara welcomed the arrival of a significant factory, Companhia de Fiação e Tecidos Lisbonense, specializing in weaving and textiles. Over the years, the vast 23,000 square meter industrial complex saw various occupants, including the food processing company Companhia Industrial de Portugal e Colónias and the print shops Anuário Comercial de Portugal and Gráfica Mirandela.
However, after being hidden from public view for many years, this part of the city has now been reborn as LX Factory. This creative hub thrives thanks to resident companies and industry professionals, as well as a rich tapestry of events spanning fashion, advertising, communication, multimedia, art, architecture, and music. These events have rekindled the interest of numerous visitors, encouraging them to rediscover this vibrant facet of Alcântara.
