17 Days/ 16 Nights. Be immersed in the cultures of Spain and Portugal with this extensive tour of the two countries. This is a bi-lingual tour operated by a local Spanish company and therefore has a larger contingent of Spanish speaking passengers. Since it caters to the Hispanic visitor it has a propensity to have groups from Hispanic countries. The tour is narrated in both Spanish and English therefore making it suitable to English speaking visitors. If you mind having to listen to the tour in both Spanish and English this tour may not suite your needs. This tour also leans, in some of its sections, leans towards a religious theme due to the inclusion of places such as Avila, Santiago de Compostela and Fatima.

Day 1 - Sunday: Madrid
Arrival at Madrid airport. After clearing simple immigration and customs formalities, you will be transferred to your hotel. We suggest you take advantage of the free time to get to know one of Europe's most dynamic capital cities. In the early evening, enjoy an “Illuminated Madrid” drive through the bustling streets of the old city, ending at the historical and impressive Plaza Mayor. This area is home to some of the most typical restaurants and taverns, which serve the delicious "tapas". Premium Package includes a Tapas Dinner tonight. Day 2 - Monday: Madrid
Buffet breakfast. This morning's escorted sightseeing tour will allow you to get a glimpse of some of Madrid's most outstanding attractions, like the Puerta del Sol, the magnificent fountains of Neptune and Cibeles, the stately Alcala Gate, the busy Gran Via, the Plaza de España and the Plaza de Oriente. Time for lunch on your own. Premium Package includes Lunch today. Highly recommended this afternoon, is an optional tour to the Imperial former capital city of Toledo, where you will be escorted through its narrow cobblestone streets, soaking up the medieval atmosphere. Touring will include the interior of the magnificent Gothic cathedral and a visit to St. Tome Church, where El Greco's masterpiece painting is displayed. There will also be some time for shopping for the unique typical local artisanry. Premium Package includes the Tour to Toledo. Return to Madrid for accommodations.
Day 3 - Tuesday: Madrid – Merida – Seville
Buffet breakfast. Departure through the once-remote region of Extremadura, home to many of the “Conquistadores”. Arrival in ancient Merida. Free time for lunch. Lunch included in Premium Package. In the afternoon, visit the impressive Roman amphitheatre archeological site before continuing to Seville. Accommodations.
Day 4 - Wednesday: Seville
Buffet breakfast. This morning’s tour of the “Pearl of Andalucia” will explore this gracious city, Spain's third largest. See the Tower of Gold, the tranquil and extensive Maria Luisa Park, the quaint Santa Cruz Quarter, and finally the huge cathedral (one of the worlds largest) with its Giralda Tower (a former minaret). Time for lunch on your own. Lunch Included in Premium Package. The afternoon is free to continue to explore or shop. This evening an optional Flamenco Show is suggested, with the enjoyment of local wine. Premium Package include Flamenco Show and drink. Accommodations.
Day 5 - Thursday: Seville – Cordoba – Granada
Buffet breakfast. Depart to Cordoba. Visit one of the world’s marvels, the former Great Mosque (now a cathedral). Time for lunch on your own. Continue to Granada, passing thousands of acres of olive groves. Premium Package includes dinner tonight. This evening, an excellent suggestion would be to visit (optional) the quaint and typical Albaicin Quarter for a night view of an illuminated Alhambra and where Andalusian customs, music and wine join to create an enchanting atmosphere. Day 6 - Friday: Granada – Valencia
Buffet breakfast. This morning, enjoy an escorted tour of the amazing Moorish palace and fortress complex of the Alhambra and the verdant Gardens of the Generalife. At mid-day departure to the east cost of Spain arriving to Valencia for accommodation.
Day 7 - Saturday: Valencia – Barcelona
Buffet breakfast and panoramic morning city tour of Valencia and the new area of Museums. In the early afternoon continuation along the Mediterranean coast north to Barcelona, one of Europe’s most cosmopolitan cities. In the evening, it is suggested to dine at the Pueblo Español, featuring architectural replicas from all of Spain’s regions. Premium Package includes entrance and dinner tonight at Pueblo Español. Day 8 - Sunday: Barcelona
Buffet breakfast. This morning enjoy an escorted tour of one of Europe’s most beautiful cities. See the old Gothic Quarter with its magnificent cathedral. Stop to admire the exterior of Gaudi’s masterwork, the Basilica of the Sacred Family (Sagrada Familia). Continue to Montjuich Hill (site of the Olympic Stadium), to enjoy a spectacular view of Barcelona and its port area. Free time for lunch, perhaps in the Olympic Port area. Day 9 - Monday: Barcelona – Zaragoza – San Sebastian – Bilbao
Buffet breakfast. Departure into old Aragon and into the proud city of Zaragoza. Pause downtown in a main plaza where you will have free time to visit the impressive Basilica of El Pilar and have lunch on your own. Continue on to the north coast and the beautiful Basque country, arriving to San Sebastian called “the Pearl of the Cantabrian Sea”. Free time and continuation to Bilbao. Accommodations. Day 10, Tuesday: Bilbao – Santillana Del Mar – Covadonga – Oviedo
Buffet Breakfast. Brief morning panoramic tour of Bilbao and the exterior architecture of the spectacular Guggenheim museum. Premium Package includes entrance to the Guggenheim. Departure to Santillana del Mar, very well preserved with a unique medieval ambiance. Free time in Santillana, Premium Package includes lunch in Santillana before leaving along the “Picos de Europa”, one of the most spectacular landscapes of Spain, to visit the shrine of Covadonga. This evening we will be staying in lovely Oviedo the capital of Asturias.
Day 11 - Wednesday: Oviedo – Ribadeo – A Coruña – Santiago de Compostela
Buffet Breakfast. Departure along the pristine green north coast from Asturias into Galicia and the town of Ribadeo where we'll stop for a unique visit of “Playa de Catedrales”, a beach famous for its amazing rock formations visible only during low tide. Afterwards we continue our route via Vilalba and Betanzos, where we you'll have free time to have lunch on your own. Before we end the day in the mystical pilgrimage city of Santiago de Compostela, we will make a stop in A Coruna. The rest of the afternoon and evening are free to enjoy this medieval city.
Day 12 - Thursday: Santiago de Compostela
Buffet Breakfast. Today enjoy a guided tour of the old university city of Santiago, a UNESCO World Heritage site, featuring the majestic Cathedral on Obradoiro square and the impressive “mercado de abastos”(main market). Tonight there is an optional traditional dinner at your hotel. Premium Package includes dinner. Accommodations. Day 13 - Friday: Santiago de Compostela – Viana do Castelo – Porto
Buffet breakfast. Depart south along the coastal "Rias Baixas" and continue into northern Portugal. We will visit the town of Viana do Castelo, at the mouth of the Rio Limia with its historic old town and castle. We finalize our journey in the charming city of Porto, famous for its namesake Port wines. Accommodations.
Day 14 - Saturday: Porto
Buffet breakfast. This morning enjoy a guided tour of this city on the banks of the Douro river including a visit to a local Port winery. Premium Package includes lunch. Afternoon free. Accommodations.
Day 15 - Sunday: Porto – Aveiro – Fatima – Lisbon
Buffet breakfast and departure to Aveiro "city of canals", the Venice of Portugal. Continue to Fatima, one of the pilgrimage centers of Christianity. Free time to visit the basilica and enjoy lunch before continuing to Lisbon. Day 16 - Monday: Lisbon
Buffet breakfast. Morning tour of this ancient and lovely city overlooking the Tagus River. Admire its splendid avenues and monuments like the Tower of Belem and the Jeronimos Monastery. Afternoon free, with a strong recommendation to visit the graceful hilltop village of Sintra and the vibrant seaside resort town of Cascais this tour included in Premium Package. Accommodations.
Day 17 - Tuesday: En route
Buffet breakfast. Pre-arranged transfer to Lisbon airport at the proper time to check-in for your return flight home. Arrival later the same day.
